About 75 volunteers had searched for Gene Roberts, 45, since Sunday night.

Roberts was believed to have been swept away by waist-high floodwaters from the Trinity River while he herded cattle to higher ground on horseback. His body was found by searchers at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a Texas EquuSearch statement.

Several air crews, the Dayton Police Department, and civilian volunteers were also involved in the search.

Roberts was described as a truck driver by trade who loved to rope calves on weekends.
