At Least 10 People Arrested

POSTED: Wednesday, October 28, 2009
UPDATED: 6:16 pm CDT October 28, 2009

A tip that several people were hiding inside a pickup truck in Rosenberg lead to a chase and more than a dozen suspected illegal immigrants being taken into custody, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Sugar Land police said they were given a description and license plate number of a vehicle parked along the Southwest Freeway on Wednesday morning.

Officers spotted the pickup truck and the driver took off, investigators said.

The chase ended when the driver crashed into a vehicle in a parking lot on Highway 90 near the Southwest Freeway.

Suspected illegal immigrants jumped out of the truck and tried to run, detectives said.

Fourteen passengers and one driver were arrested.

Several passengers were treated for minor injuries.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials were notified.
