UPDATED: 4:47 pm CDT October 20, 2009

Coast Guard crews helped treat and rescue a fishing boat captain stranded near Galveston Tuesday.

Crews from Coast Guard Air Station Houston and Station Galveston responded to a report from the captain of the fishing vessel Lucky Lady.

The captain requested medical assistance after he partially severed his finger around 5:30 a.m.

During the distress call, the captain also reported his boat was taking on water.

Crews delivered pumps to get the water off the boat, and EMT treated the captain for his injuries.

They also returned Lucky Lady back to the Galveston Yacht Basin.
