Fire Rips Through Apartment Building

12 Units At El Paraiso Apartments Damaged Or Destroyed

UPDATED: 7:30 am CDT October 19, 2009

Several units at a southwest Houston apartment complex cannot be lived in after a large fire, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston firefighters battled the flames at the El Paraiso Apartments on Corporate Drive near Hendon Lane at about 11 p.m. Sunday.

Twelve of the 16 units in one building were either damaged or destroyed.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators said they suspect a barbecue pit on the landing of an upstairs apartment started the fire.
