HEMPSTEAD, Texas -- A Hempstead police officer has returned to work after he was attacked while leaving a library, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.Officer Rick Juarez was making his usual rounds at the Waller County Library on 11th Street at 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 30 when he was ambushed from behind, police said.Juarez was beaten with a blunt object. He suffered three broken ribs.He returned to work on Wednesday.Investigators said they don't know the motive for the attack and they don't have any suspects.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 979-826-8266.
