Officer Returns To Duty After Attack

Officer Rick Juarez Attacked At Waller County Library

A Hempstead police officer has returned to work after he was attacked while leaving a library, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.

Officer Rick Juarez was making his usual rounds at the Waller County Library on 11th Street at 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 30 when he was ambushed from behind, police said.

Juarez was beaten with a blunt object. He suffered three broken ribs.

He returned to work on Wednesday.

Investigators said they don't know the motive for the attack and they don't have any suspects.
