SUGAR LAND -- Fluor Enterprises, Sugar Land's largest employer, will cut about 500 jobs over the next several weeks.
The layoffs stem from an overseas employer taking over a project handled by the Sugar Land office.
Fluor will be making the job cuts through December of this year.
The company has released a statement about the cuts saying:
"Fluor Corporation will continue to be an important part of Sugar Land's strong corporate base, representing the city's largest private employer in terms of employees."
About 3,000 employees work at Fluor's Sugar Land office.
