Attend 'National Night Out' Tonight

Residents are encouraged to help make their neighborhoods safer by participating in National Night Out, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt and Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia joined forces to let everyone know about the 26th anniversary of National Night Out, which will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Citizens are asked to meet their neighbors at various social events and block parties planned throughout many neighborhoods in the Houston area.

The annual event was moved to October last year so that it could be held during a cooler time of year.

Local Events Planned:
  • Sheriff Adrian Garcia will be at Summerwood Subdivision, 16136 Hunters Lake Way at Timberforest, at 5:30 p.m., then at the Woodforest Subdivision, 13439 Woodforest at Uvalde, at 6:05 p.m., and at the Wortham Subdivision, 10911 Wortham Blvd., at 6:40 p.m.
  • Police Chief Harold Hurtt will be at Discovery Green Park, 1500 McKinney Street, at 6 p.m. with Mario Williams of the Houston Texans, then at Cuney Homes Resident Council, 3260 Truxillo, at Midtown Civic Club at 1700 Southmore Blvd., and at the Super Neighborhood Council at 19225 Sears Drive.
  • Houston Mayor Bill White will be at the Central City HOA, 6944 Burgess, at about 6:50 p.m., Andover Park, 6301 Nunn, at 7:35 p.m., and Mickey Leland Park, 3701 Calvalcade St., at 8:15 p.m.
  • The HPD armored SWAT vehicle will be at Lindale Park Subdivision, 500 block of Joyce
  • Cinco Ranch, LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, Katy, 6-9 p.m.
  • Conroe, Candy Cane Park next to I-45 between Callahan Ave. and Semands Ave., 5-7 p.m.
  • League City, Magnolia Creek Clubhouse, 4751 W. League City Pkwy., 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Missouri City, Target, Highway 6 at FM 1092, 5:30-7 p.m.
  • Rice University, Rice Stadium, 6100 Main St., 6-9 p.m.
  • Rosenberg, Target, 23910 Commercial Dr. in Brazos Town Center, 7-10 p.m.
