21-year-old man drowns on Lake Conroe

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A tragic end to one family's July Fourth festivities on Lake Conroe - a 21-year-old man dove off his family's dock into about chest deep water and didn't come up.

It happened at a home in 3900 block of Treasure Island Drive in the Walden area around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The victim has been identified as Elliot Richoux

Neighbors told Local 2 about 30 people from the neighborhood went into the water and frantically started looking for the man. They couldn't find him and called 911 minutes later.

The Northern Montgomery County Fire Department sent their fire boat and dive team.

"We recovered the body a little more than 30 minutes after he was last seen," said Lt. Tim Cade, with the Montgomery County Precinct One Constables.

Paramedics performed CPR on the man but it was too late.

Family friends said the man's mother was at home when the drowning happened. She was so upset about the news paramedics had to take her to the hospital to be monitored.

Richoux was a star baseball player at The Woodlands before playing at Texas Tech during the 2013 season.

"We are extremely saddened to hear this tragic news involving Elliot," Texas Tech baseball  coach Tim Tadlock said in a release. "We want to offer our condolences to his mother, Deborah, and father, David. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time."
