A northwest Harris County girl was injured Thursday afternoon after she stepped off her school bus, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Deputies said the 6-year-old was in the 7600 block of Kite Hill Drive at Firebrick shortly before 4 p.m. when a driver lost control of a vehicle, hit a mailbox and then her.

Officials said the girl received cuts and scrapes, and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The girl attends Hairgrove Elementary School in the Cypress-Fairbanks School District.

The accident is under investigation.
