BROOKSHIRE, Texas -- A Katy Independent School District officer was kidnapped Tuesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The Waller County Sheriff's Department said the officer was kidnapped at about 6 a.m. by her ex-boyfriend, who is also a Katy ISD officer.
Investigators said Rachel Hillsman, 24, was on her way to work and dropping off the couple's 13-month-old baby and her 7-year-old child at her mother's house when Julio Reyes, 38, forced her into his car.
"Mr. Reyes was coming up behind her when she was opening the gate, abducted her. We know there was a small struggle. They left in his truck. The grandmother got the children. Authorities say the 13-month-old is Hillsman and Reyes' child together," said Glenn Smith with the Waller County Sheriff's Department.
According to deputies, Reyes is driving a 2002 dark green Ford pickup truck with Texas license plate 87V DP7. The truck has a Harley Davidson sticker on the back window.
Reyes is considered armed.
A massive search was under way on Tuesday for Hillsman and Reyes.
"We're making every effort to get them back safely," Smith said.
"The suspect of this has been with Katy ISD police since May of 1999 and the victim since January of 2006," said Steve Stanford with Katy ISD.
Officials said the two children are safe with their grandmother.
