HOUSTON -- A suspect was charged in connection with a drive-by shooting that left eight people wounded at a rally at Texas Southern University last month, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The shooting occurred on July 22 at about 8:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 3100 block of Cleburne Street near Tierwester Street after a Trae Day concert.
The victims ranged in age from 14 to 21.
Police said Albert Walker Mondane, 19, was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. Mondane has an alias of "A-Walk."
Investigators said Mondane is not in custody and there may be other shooters, as well.
Witnesses told police that a car drove by and someone inside opened fire on the parking lot full of people.
The victims were taken to Ben Taub Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital. The injuries were described as serious, but not life-threatening.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mondane is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
