FULSHEAR, Texas -- Firefighters battled a large grass fire in Fort Bend County that threatened five homes and consumed more than 100 acres, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The fire on FM 359 at FM 1093 started shortly after 3 p.m. Friday in Fulshear.
Flames and thick black smoke poured from trees in the area.
Approximately 75 firefighters from eight fire departments went to the scene to contain the blaze and protect the threatened structures.
The fire was tapped out at about 1 a.m. Saturday. However, firefighters were sent back out to the scene Saturday morning for two spots that reignited.
There were no injuries reported.
The Fort Bend County Fire Marshal's Office will investigate the cause.
