Uncle Claims Shooting Was Self-Defense

HOUSTON -- A man told police he fatally shot his nephew in self-defense, KPRC Local 2 reported.Houston police said the man called 911 and reported that he shot his 40-year-old nephew at a home on Dalton Drive near Belgard Street at about 2 a.m. Tuesday.Investigators said the man told them that his nephew had been drinking and he told him to leave.The man told police that his nephew returned and threatened to kill him with a jack from a car.The man shot the nephew in the chest. He died at Ben Taub Hospital. His name was not released.Police said the case will be referred to a grand jury.
