Former Woodlands resident Gary Ford was one of the Americans wounded in suicide bombings in Jakarta, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.

Houstonian Charles John said Ford is his brother-in-law. He said Ford was badly burned, but is not in critical condition.

"He has second-degree burns over about a quarter of his body," said John.

John said his Ford was flown to Singapore for medical treatment.

Ford was living and working in Jakarta as a general manager of exploration for the petroleum company Anadarko. He has been with the company 25 years and has lived in The Woodlands on multiple occasions for his job.

The company released a statement regarding Ford.

"He is a valued member of our family and a well-respected colleague. We are praying for his quick and full recovery. As we continue to work to ensure he has the best possible care, Gary has been flown to a medical facility in Singapore where he is reportedly stable and receiving treatment for the burns he received in the explosion. We also are taking action to make sure his family has the resources and support they need during this time."

John said his sister, Ford's wife, is en route to Singapore to be with her husband.

John said his sister was in the United States at the time of the explosion visiting relatives.

Authorities said suicide bombers spent two days at a pair of luxury hotels in Indonesia's capital before detonating their devices just minutes apart Friday morning. Eight people were killed and dozens more wounded.

President Barack Obama says the U.S. "stands ready" to help its ally after the bombings.
