UPDATED: 1:21 pm CDT July 20, 2009

This week's show takes a look at how to stand out when you're looking for a job and low to no-cost ways to market yourself. Host Kim Davis also talked with a panel of political insiders about the Houston Mayor's race and the status of the Republican party.

The unemployment numbers continue to rise, but there are available jobs. The key is using the right tools to compete in this very competitive job market. Crystal Washington is a marketing consultant who specializes in using social media as a marketing tool. She says its a great way to make an impression on potential employers. Sue Cruver is with Workforce Solutions and said its really important to re-brand yourself so you stand out during your job search.

The Houston mayoral candidates finance report was released last week and the numbers show the race is still wide open. The panel included four local insiders who shared their thoughts on the mayor's race, the Republican party and more. Gloria Roemer is a political analyst and Republican strategist who ran the Bush-Quayle campaign in Denver and ran for a Congressional seat. Marcus Davis owns the Breakfast Klub and hosts Sunday Morning Live on Majic 102 FM. Nancy Sims is the senior vice president with Pierpont Communications, teaches political science and hosts the "mayoralmusings" blog. Ed Hubbard is a former judicial candidate who plans to make a run for chair of the Harris County Republican party.
