HOUSTON -- A shelter in place order that was issued Thursday for some residents in northwest Harris County has been lifted, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.
The order was issued Thursday night for residents around Ram Chemical and Supply Inc. at 4949 Greenhouse Road.
A four-alarm fire broke out at the company at about 2:45 p.m. Saturday.
A Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department spokesman said a container where hazardous material was stored created hazardous smoke on Thursday, prompting the shelter in place order.
The weekend fire spread from the front warehouse to the rear warehouse, eventually overtaking the building's office space and spawning several grass fires that were quickly contained.
Five firefighters were injured while battling the blaze. Most suffered smoke inhalation.
