WHARTON, Texas -- Vandals caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to a Wharton County church, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.
Ministers of the True Holiness Pentecostal Church said they discovered their sanctuary had been ransacked after Monday night's service.
"We've been a pillar of the community here for over 30-something years," The Rev. Lee Kimble said. "For somebody to enter the establishment and do this … I was just appalled. I looked around and I saw … my first expression was just how am I going to tell my pastor this?"
The walls had several holes, the entrance was destroyed, windows were broken and pictures in the office were destroyed.
The church did not have a security system.
Wharton County detectives declined to comment on the investigation.
