HOUSTON -- More than 40 vehicles were broken into at a southwest Houston apartment complex, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.
Houston police said the break-ins occurred at a parking garage at the Alexan Main Street complex, located at 8333 Braesmain Drive.
Janice's car was the only one stolen.
"The whole car," she said. "When I came out this morning to go to work, this is what I found. And then I started to look around, and glass was everywhere."
Forty-two other vehicles were broken in to.
Police said security cameras around the garage were working and the parking area is well lit. The security gate was also functioning.
But the thieves were able to get in and out without being detected.
Police said the break-ins occurred in the middle of the night and there were no witnesses.
Officials said they will increase the patrols in the area.
"We're taking some tactical actions also," HPD Capt. Mark Fougerousse said.
Police reminded drivers to not keep anything of value inside a vehicle and always lock it up.
