Uranus Maxwell was arrested and charged with the unlawful carry of a weapon, possession of marijuana and possession of a prohibited weapon. Her bond was set at $2,500.

Deputies said an argument started when Smith and Maxwell felt they were being shorted in a drug deal.

The women had a 4-year-old child in the vehicle with them at the time.

When deputies arrived at the scene in the 16500 block of the North Freeway, they were advised that one man had been shot and that the shooter was trying to leave the scene.

Smith allegedly shot a man with what deputies said was a prohibited weapon. They also found marijuana and a loaded, stolen handgun in the backseat of the vehicle.

“Quick response time by deputies enabled them to stop the vehicle the shooter was in prior to her leaving the motel property and detain all occupants within the vehicle,” Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said.
