HPD: Driver killed after running stop sign, crashing in west Houston

HOUSTON – A speeding driver was killed early Tuesday after crashing his vehicle in west Houston, according to Houston police.

The accident happened just after 2 a.m. in the 1000 block of Brittmoore Road.

According to the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, the man was speeding in a blue Pontiac Grand Prix, driving south on Brittmoore, when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Old Katy Road.  The car veered off the road and hit a concrete barrier wall. The victim died on impact, police said.

Police have not released the victim's identity pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
