2 wanted in Harris County bank robbery

Compass Bank on North Freeway robbed Wednesday

HOUSTON – Two men robbed a north Houston bank on Wednesday.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the Compass Bank on the North Freeway near Rankin was held up about 10:55 a.m.

Detectives said the pair slipped the teller a note demanding cash. Investigators said the two did not say anything to the teller and did not display a weapon during the robbery.

The two got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Some witnesses insisted that one of the robbers was a woman, but investigators said that person was a man wearing a woman's wig.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw the two run into a nearby apartment complex. Deputies searched the area but did not find the robbers.

Descriptions of the men have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
