Man faces intoxication manslaughter charges after deadly motorcycle crash

HOUSTON – A man is facing charges after a deadly motorcycle crash along I-610 north at Lockwood Drive early Monday morning in northeast Houston.

Investigators said Vicente Espino-Mendieta, 43, was driving a pickup truck around 1:20 a.m. when he crossed several lanes and hit and killed a 41-year-old man on a motorcycle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Witnesses told police Espino-Mendieta was seen driving erratically on the Eastex Freeway before he exited onto North Loop east and hit the motorcyclist. 

Espino-Mendieta was taken into custody after investigators determined he was under the influence.

He is facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
