HOUSTON - Two people were killed early Sunday morning when they were both trapped in a burning pickup truck after a deadly crash.
Police said around 2:40 a.m. a car pulled out from a stop sign on Martin Luther King Boulevard and tried to turn right onto Almeda Genoa Road. The car pulled in front of a pickup truck headed westbound, and the driver of the pickup was unable to stop before slamming into the car.
The impact sent the car into a ditch, and sent the pickup rolling over before landing upside down.
The truck then caught on fire, with both the driver and passenger trapped inside. They were unable to get out of the pickup in time, and both died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the car was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
Police said their investigation is ongoing.
