2 teens, juvenile charged in carjacking

HOUSTON – Houston police arrested two teenage girls and a juvenile who are accused of threatening to kill a man and then stealing his car.

Alyssa Salazar, 17, and Valerie Villarreal, 19 appeared in court on aggravated robbery charges.

Investigators said they had help from a friend who's a juvenile whose name and age weren't released.

Police said the teens asked a 32-year-old man for a ride. They met him at a business in the 7200 block of Hemlock Street in southeast Houston.

He reportedly drove them a few blocks, but when the girls got out of the car, they pulled what appeared to be a gun.

According to investigators, one of the teens had her hand wrapped in some sort of fabric and it was concealing the weapon.

The teens are accused of telling the man to hand over the keys to the car or they'd kill him.  He gave them the keys and then called the police.

Police pulled the stolen car over a short time later and arrested the teens. The victim identified them as the suspects.

For the 17 and 19-year-olds, bond was set at $30,000 and they were officially charged with aggravated robbery.

Information on the juvenile is not available. Her case is being handled in juvenile court.
