2 students hospitalized after eating brownies that might have been laced, officials say

HOUSTON – Two Klein Oak High School students were rushed to a hospital after eating brownies that investigators say was laced with some sort of substance.

Administrators said a student was selling the brownies on campus.

Students spoke of chaos in the halls.

"Two of the girls started fainting and throwing up," said Michael Pickens, student, Klein Oak High School.

"It was wrong whoever did that, just to give them some brownies that were laced with weed," said Javares Cross, student, Klein Oak High School.

Students said the brownies were laced with either marijuana or synthetic marijuana.

Klein ISD confirms to Channel 2 that a student brought brownies to school. The brownies, the district says, were laced with an "unknown substance."

"All parents of known involved students have been notified. The investigation is ongoing," said Judy Rimato, spokesperson, Klein ISD, in a statement to KPRC2.

At least two students, officials confirmed, ate those brownies. Medics rushed them a hospital.

"I heard her. She was laying down on the ground," Cross says. "She took I think one or two, and she was out of her body," he continued.

Students told KPRC2 administrators kept other students inside their classrooms, as they attended to the students who ate brownies.

"We weren't allowed to leave the classrooms until about an hour afterwards," a student said.
