2 siblings killed, sister's boyfriend injured in Pasadena house fire

PASADENA, Texas – Arson investigators are trying to figure out what caused an early morning house fire that killed a brother and sister, and injured the sister's boyfriend.

It happened at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Llano Street.  When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke and flames.

"I just heard screaming and there were a couple pops," said Susan Quebodeaux, who lives across the street.

She says she saw the boyfriend run outside the house and he was on fire.  "He was screaming because his pregnant girlfriend was still upstairs," Quebodeaux said.

She says he tried to run back inside, but her daughter grabbed on to him.  "She pulled him away and at about that time the kitchen exploded where he was standing," Quebodeaux said.

The 25-year-old boyfriend was airlifted to the hospital to be treated for burns covering 30 percent of his body.

Officials say the brother was in his late teens and the sister was in her early 20s.  "They were just out here yesterday skateboarding," Quebodeaux said.  "They were laughing and joking around."

A firefighter was injured by a nail that went into his knee inside the home while he was fighting the fire. He was taken to the hospital, treated and returned to the house fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Pasadena Fire Department.
