2 Rice University students robbed at gunpoint

HOUSTON – Two Rice University students were robbed at gunpoint Thursday night on campus.

The robbery was reported about 8:20 p.m. in front of Tudor Fieldhouse.

According to university officials, a person walked up behind the students as they were waking in front of the building. He pulled out a gun and demanded their purses.

Officials said that after the robber grabbed the purses, he jumped into the passenger seat of a dark gray SUV that was parked on Loop Road. The vehicle went east on Loop Road toward Main Street.

The robber was described as a slender black male who was about 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored bandanna over his face, a Rice University jacket with a zipper and a ski cap with a Rice University emblem on the front of it.

Neither of the students were injured, officials said.
