2 men seriously injured when car slams into tree
Both men trapped, rescued by firefighters
Two men were seriously injured after crashing head-on into a tree in northeast Houston.
Around 2 a.m. Thursday, two men in an SUV were traveling westbound on Parker Road at a high rate of speed.
Police said when the vehicle went over the railroad tracks at Hirsch Road, it went airborne. The driver then lost control of the car, swerved to the left, plowed through a chain link fence and an overgrown field and eventually slammed into a large tree.
Both men remained trapped until firefighters rescued them.
Police said both men were transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Police performed a blood draw at the hospital to test for alcohol.
