Weekend construction hot spots to avoid

HOUSTON – There are several traffic alerts from the nortwhest side of Houston to the very busy East Freeway.

Several closures are on tap. Highway 290 headed inbound and outbound near Hockley Road and Cypress is fully closed.

On Saturday and Sunday, 290 westbound between Mueschke Road and Bauer Road will be closed. On the opposite side between Katy Hockley Mason Road, all eastbound lanes are closed. Traffic will be routed to the service road.

Crews will shut down everything on 290 westbound between Pinemont Drive and 43rd Street from Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. until 9 a.m.

On the North Freeway, road work will be happening northbound between Canino Road and Gulf Bank Road. That will be a daily closure from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until mid-June.

The biggest closure is at Interstate 10 eastbound between Interstate 45 and Gregg Street. It starts at 9 p.m. Friday and will last until 9 p.m. Saturday. Westbound between Lockwood Road and Highway 59 will also be closed because of construction on the Meadow Street bridge.

Along the North Loop westbound at T.C. Jester Boulevard, you'll notice all lanes blocked from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.
