HOUSTON -

Two men are in custody after police said they stole an air conditioning unit in north Houston.

Houston police officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle behind a shopping center on Veterans Memorial Drive and Marcolin Street around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Upon arrival, officers saw the white SUV leaving, so they quickly pulled it over.

Officials said they found a large A/C unit in the back of the SUV.

The two men were arrested at the scene.

Police originally believed the unit was taken from the roof of the shopping center, but after climbing up, they are unsure from where it came.

Officials are hoping the serial number from the company who installed the air conditioner will have a record of where it belongs.
