2 men accused of burglarizing Rosenberg homes amid flood evacuations

ROSENBERG, Texas – Two men are behind bars Thursday after taking advantage of recent flood evacuations near the Brazos River to burglarize homes in Rosenberg, investigators said.

Investigators said Tarquis Armstead, 21, and Darius Hunter, 21, broke into several flood-damaged homes along Avenue A around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday after residents had evacuated several parts of Fort Bend County.

Officers said Hunter and Armstead had stolen items in their possession when police arrested them following a tip from an observant neighbor.

Both men were charged with two counts each of burglary of a habitation and were taken to the Fort Bend County Jail.

Police said the homeowners’ property was returned.
