HOUSTON -

Two people were injured after a driver crashed into three parked cars in west Harris County.

Around 2:30 a.m. Friday, police said a driver in a Nissan Altima was speeding east on the Katy Freeway near Promenade Boulevard when he lost control of the car.

Police said the car slid sideways across the feeder road, slammed into three parked cars at a car dealership, and crashed into a metal pole.

According to reports, the pole impaled the driver, and it took rescue crews over 30 minutes to free him from the car. He was flown to the hospital in critical condition.

The front passenger was taken to the hospital by ambulance in stable condition. The two passengers in the back of the car were not injured.

The names of the driver and passengers were not immediately released.
