2 children hit, 5-year-old killed in hit-and-run crash in NW Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Deputies are searching for the hit-and-run driver who killed a 5-year-old and sent a 2-year-old to the hospital.

The children were hit around 8:30 p.m. Thursday after they walked into the street from Doss Park near Fallbrook and Butte Canyon in northwest Harris County, apparently to retrieve a ball. According to investigators, a ball went over the fence and the children crawled under the fence to go after it.

Surveillance video captured the terrifying moments when a driver hit 5-year old Jayden Aguilar and his uncle, 2-year-old Jeremiah.

“You can see where he runs over the little boys and he just keeps going. He didn't even stop,” said Liana Marin.

The camera in front of Marin's home was rolling.

It appears the driver of the dark-colored pickup truck or SUV tried to slow down before the crash.

“I was in tears cause I can't imagine it. I really can't. It's just really sad," said Marin.

Neighbors hope the driver responsible comes forward.

“I hope the video from our cameras helps, help him come to justice for the little kids and the little kids' families,” said Marin.

Jayden Aguilar died at the scene. Jeremiah Aguilar was taken to Texas Children's Hospital in serious condition.

Deputies said vehicle parts were found in the area of the crash.

Witnesses described the vehicle that hit the children as a dark-colored Chevrolet Avalanche.

Anyone with information is asked to call deputies.
