2 dead, 1 in critical condition following 2-vehicle accident in SW Houston

HOUSTON – Two people are dead after an accident on Sunday, according to the Houston Police Department.

A white Dodge Durango ran a red light and struck the passenger side of a white Nissan 350z at 10900 South Sam Houston Parkway West service road around 5:20 p.m., police said.

The Durango was northbound when it struck the eastbound Nissan, which was on West Airport Boulevard, according to police.

The Dodge then struck a light pole and came to a stop. The Nissan was pushed through the median and struck a traffic sign and a Honda CRV, which was stopped at the light in the westbound lanes of West Airport, according to HPD. The driver of the Honda was not injured.

The woman passenger in the Nissan died at the scene, according to reports. The driver of the Nissan was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Dodge was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The identities of the man and woman are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD is continuing its investigation.
