Spring Independent School District is reviewing after-school pickup procedures after a 5-year-old and another child ended up at the wrong day care on the first day of class.
Sheila Lafiton said her family got a phone call from McNabb Elementary school in Spring around 4 p.m. Monday that her granddaughter Sahana wasn't where she was supposed to be.
"They brought me inside somebody's car then they brought me to another school and then somebody brought me back to school," Sahana said.
Instead of being taken to the School For Creative Learning, a Spring ISD spokeswoman said a teacher inadvertently put Sahana and another student on a van headed for K3 Creative Center.
"She's a child, she don't know what's going on, looking at all these strange people, strange places," Sheila Lafiton said.
The school district said it was a mix-up because the day care centers are similarly named. Lafiton said it was a mistake that should not have happened.
"The very first day, I understand it's a lot of kids, but you're supposed to be organized," Lafiton said.
Spring ISD told Local 2 that teachers will pay extra attention to the student rosters making sure each student is on the correct van or bus after school.?
