Two men are in custody after leading Houston police on a lengthy high-speed chase in a stolen car.

According to the Houston Police Department, an officer ran the plates on the suspects’ Dodge Charger early Wednesday morning and the car came back stolen. The officer tried to pull the car over at Hillcroft Avenue, but the driver sped onto Southwest Freeway toward Sugar Land.

During the chase, one of the suspects tossed a gun out the window, which authorities later recovered.

Police said the men eventually lost control while trying to make a U-turn at Sugar Creek Boulevard in Sugar Land.

Officers quickly arrested them.

Both men face charges for evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
