BACLIFF, Texas -

A man and a woman have been accused of wrapping a dead man's body in plastic.

Samantha Escobedo-Resendez, 26, and German Perez-Velasquez, 31, have been charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Galveston County sheriff's deputies said Escobedo-Resendez and Perez-Velasquez went to the Kemah Police Department about 3:30 p.m. and told officers that they left a man dead inside a mobile home in the 3700 block of Harmony Lane near Gordy Road in Bacliff.

Deputies said they went to the home and found the body, wrapped in plastic. The man's name has not been released.

Investigators said they talked to Escobedo-Resendez and Perez-Velasquez and determined that the trio may have been involved in an altercation which may have resulted in the man's death.

Escobedo-Resendez and Perez-Velasquez wrapped the man's body in plastic after his death to try to cover up evidence, deputies said.

The cause of the man's death will be determined by the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office.

Escobedo-Resendez and Perez-Velasquez have been booked into the Galveston County Jail with bond set at $100,000 each.
