SEALY, Texas -- A day care in Sealy was shut down after children were found hidden all over the property, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Sealy police said a day care licensing inspector called them Wednesday to check on a day care at a home on Willow Street at Brookside Lane.
Officers found 14 children, ranging in age from 6 months to 4 years. Some of them were locked in a back yard shed and others were hidden in closets.
Six unsupervised infants were found in a storage shed, investigators said. They were surrounded by hazardous materials, including gas cans, lawnmowers and insecticides, officials said.
All of the children were evaluated by emergency medical services and released to their parents.
Marietta Patek was charged with six counts of endangering a child. Her husband, Eddie, was charged with tampering with evidence. Officers said he tried to hide children at a neighbor's house.
Child Protective Services is investigating.
