La. Murder Suspect Caught In Houston

James Francis Accused Of Killing Convenience Store Clerk

POSTED: Wednesday, July 1, 2009
UPDATED: 7:49 am CDT July 1, 2009

A man wanted in a Louisiana slaying was arrested in north Houston on Tuesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

U.S. Marshals got a tip from someone who recognized 59-year-old James Francis after he was featured on a national television show.

Francis was supposed to be armed and dangerous, but he was taken into custody at the Best Classic Inn in the 13600 block of Rankin Circle without much of a fuss.

Francis has been accused of fatally shooting a 25-year-old convenience store clerk in Lafayette, La, in 2008.

After his arrest, Francis offered the KPRC Local 2 Wheel of Justice team an explanation as to why he was holed up at the motel.

"I knew they were trying to put that on me," Francis said.

Francis is being held in the Harris County Jail. He could return to Louisiana in the next few days.
