Man Breaks Into Church

HPD: Mentally Unstable Man Said Hurricane Was Coming

HOUSTON -- A man was attacked while inside his southwest Houston church on Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston police said a mentally unstable man broke into the Abundant Life Cathedral Church in the 11200 block of Harwin Drive at about 6:30 p.m.

A church member called police to report a robbery. Police said the man attacked the church member.

Police said officers sent in a dog to get the attacker out and subdued him by shocking him with a Taser gun.

Detectives said the attacker told them he broke into the church because there was a hurricane coming.
