A convenience store clerk has been accused of selling generic Viagra over the counter, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Friendswood police said Ashish Shrestha, 22, has been charged with delivery of a dangerous drug.

Shrestha was a clerk at Speedy Mart in the 2400 block of West Parkwood Avenue.

Investigators said residents in the area complained that the store may have been selling the drug illegally.

Undercover officers were able to purchase the drug, packaged in the generic form of sildenafil-citrate, without a prescription, police said.

The drug requires a prescription in the United States. Police said the drugs may have been purchased from foreign companies where a prescription is not needed.
