UPDATED: 12:18 pm CDT June 18, 2009

A man shot his brother multiple times and then turned the gun on himself early Thursday, police told KPRC Local 2.

Houston police said Randy Saravia confronted his brother, Albert Saravia, in the driveway of a home on Grandvale Drive near High Star Drive at about 12:55 a.m.

Investigators said Albert Saravia was sitting in his car when Randy Saravia shot him in the hand.

Albert Saravia, 23, tried to calm down his brother, but was shot multiple times in each arm and the left side of his body, police said.

Detectives said Randy Saravia, 21, went into the yard and shot himself in the head. He died at the scene.

Albert Saravia was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition.

Police have not said what sparked the shooting.
