Police Impersonators Terrorize Family

By Elizabeth Scarborough

A group of men dressed up like police officers and terrorized a Humble family, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.

A family living a house on Roche Rock heard someone banging on their door at 4:30 a.m. Monday.

"My wife's like, 'Get the gun. Someone's coming through the door,'" said the husband, who did not want to be identified. "So I picked up the gun and they yelled, 'Put the gun down! Police!'"

"I was relieved knowing it was police and not some intruders," said his wife.

"They all had on black boots, pants, shirts that said 'police' and ski masks," he said. "Like if they were SWAT."

They looked like police, but they didn't act like police, the couple said.

"They duct-taped me with my hands behind my back and started kicking me," he said.

The bruises are still on the man's face and his head is still swollen. There are marks from where he was pistol-whipped.

He and his wife said they were shocked with a Taser gun several times.

"Once they started taking our belongings, I was like, 'They're not cops,'" she said. "My heart dropped."

The couple was terrorized for the next hour or so.

"They just kept telling me that I have a nice house," he said. "They were like, 'We know you have money.'"

Their three children, ages 6, 3 and 18 months, saw the entire thing.

The thieves turned the house upside down. They got away with some electronics, jewelry, wallets and the family's sense of security.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
