HOUSTON -- A woman accused of running a high-priced call girl ring is now operating a nanny placement service, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.
Deborah and Charles Turbiville are awaiting trial on charges they ran a large prostitution ring allegedly involving hundreds of clients, including doctors, lawyers, and professional athletes.
The couple's defense attorney, Keisha Smith, said Deborah Turbiville is operating a nanny placement service by running ads on Craigslist looking for potential nannies and families with whom to place them.
"Mr. and Mrs. Turbiville are presumed innocent. They have not been found guilty of any charges. They are loving parents and just trying to take care of their family," Smith said.
Smith said the couple have two preschool-age children and need to provide for them.
The Turbivilles are due back in court for a pretrial hearing next month.
On Thursday, a spokesman for the Harris County District Attorney's Office said the decision has not been made on whether to file charges against some 1,500 people whose names appear on an alleged list of clients.
