HOUSTON -- A man is wanted in connection with the robbery of a northwest Houston loan shop, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.
Houston police said a man went to the EZ Loan Services in the 9500 block of Kempwood Drive at on March 20 and asked about a loan. Investigators said he left and when he returned later, he said he was waiting for his girlfriend.
The clerk told police that the man looked over customers' shoulders and followed one customer out of the store.
Investigators said the man went into the store for a third time, grabbed an application, pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the clerk as he walked around the counter and demanded money.
As the clerk was getting money from the register, the man grabbed her arm and demanded money from the safe, police said.
The clerk told detectives that she told the man that she could not access the safe. She said the man demanded her money and car keys.
Detectives said the clerk told the man demanded the clerk to turn off surveillance cameras after she told him that she did not have any money or a car.
The clerk told the man that she could not turn off the cameras and he ordered her to sit on the floor, officials said. The man threatened to shoot the clerk if she got off the floor, police said.
The man was described as black, in his mid-20s, about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds with a rough, dark complexion.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
