Octuplets Mom Calls 911 Amid Homecoming Frenzy

Nadya Suleman: 'Paparazzi Is Dangerous At This Point'

POSTED: Friday, March 20, 2009

Octuplet mother Nadya Suleman brought two of her eight infants home earlier this week, but the homecoming wasn't entirely joyful.

The baby boys arrived at their new La Habra, Calif., house amidst a frenzy of news cameras and helicopters.

Scores of photographers, reporters and gawkers who had staked out her new house for hours clung to her vehicle as she arrived home late Tuesday.

That prompted Suleman to call 911 for help.

"My name is Nadya Suleman," she says in the recently released recording. "The paparazzi is dangerous at this point. They're trying to break down the garage door. We pulled in here and they're swarming the whole area. I need help. It's not safe for any of the kids."

One neighbor who did not identify herself described the crowd's behavior as "ridiculous."

The octuplets were born Jan. 26 in Southern California to 33-year-old Suleman, a divorced, unemployed mother who already had six children.

The babies had been in the hospital for several weeks after being born nine weeks premature. Two of the infants were brought home after social workers toured the family's new four-bedroom, three-bath home and deemed it fit to live there. The rest of the octuplets are to be similarly gradually integrated.
