UPDATED: 8:10 am CST January 6, 2009

A man has been accused of running over partially nude woman and leaving her to die in north Harris County, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said Maria Cabrera, 35, fell off a truck on Rankin Road near Rankin Circle on New Year's Day.

Deputies said the driver, 36-year-old Numas Campos, ran over Cabrera and took off.

Cabrera went to a nearby motel with Campos, investigators said. The two argued and Campos tried to leave in the pickup truck. Officials said Cabrera held on to the side of the truck and fell as Campos accelerated and swerved.

Cabrera died at the scene.

Campos has been charged with manslaughter and was booked into the Harris County Jail.
