HOUSTON -- A shipment belonging to the CBS reality show "Survivor" was seized in the Port of Houston last month, officials told KPRC Local 2 Tuesday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services agents seized the shipment on Nov. 18.
Investigators said some of the items inside were possibly restricted or prohibited by the USFWS, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Inspectors said they found a Mandarin skull, civet hides, feathers with biological contamination, cowries shells and bones inside the container. Officials said the items were host materials for exotic pests and diseases to enter the United States.
Termites were found in a wooden statue and in other items, officials said. Investigators said they also found corn invested with pests.
The contents of the container were fumigated to eliminate the risk of exotic pests entering the country.
Officials said the items found in the shipment were either prohibited or restricted for entry into the United States by the Convention of International Treaty of Endangered Species, agriculture quarantine and health and human safety regulations.
