UPDATED: 7:32 pm CST December 11, 2008

Three bodies were found and two people remained missing after a helicopter went down in the Gulf of Mexico Thursday on its way to an oil rig.

The Coast Guard received a call shortly before 10 a.m. from a helicopter leasing company that one of its choppers failed to report at its schedule time.

A Coast Guard rescue helicopter and search boats were dispatched to the area, approximately two miles off the coast of Sabine Pass.

Searchers found three bodies and debris in the area.

The helicopter was en route to an unmanned platform 18 miles offshore when it went down.

Sabine Pass is located near Port Arthur, Texas.
