HOUSTON -- A traveler tried to go through George Bush Intercontinental Airport with more than just clothing and toiletries in his luggage, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said security screeners noticed something odd about two cases that went through the X-ray machine on Monday.
Officers said they cut through the lining of the cases and found 28 pounds of opium, worth about $700,000.
The passenger, a U.S. resident, had arrived from Istanbul, Turkey. The passenger was arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement on a drug charge.
